Words light fire in the minds of men, words are the most powerful tool used by mankind to express emotions and thoughts. St. Paul’s English School hosted Inter Presidency Spell Bee competition on 27th July 2014. The anchor for this event was Mr. Sourish Ghosh, a well known personality, who trains people in Personality enhancement and conducts workshops in educational institutions and corporate orgainsations.
The six schools which participated in this event were SPES, PSRTN, PSNLO, PSBS, PSBE, PSBN. Six students participated from each school. The first round was the Dictation round where students had to write the spelling of the words dictated by Mr. Sourish. The Top scorer of each school in this round were declared the finalists.The second round was the Pictionary round wherein the contestants were shown a picture. They had to name the object and spell it too. In the third round the contestants had to unscramble the jumbled words.
The final round was once again a spelling round where the contestants had to orally spell the word asked by the anchor.
All the contestants participated in the various round with zeal and enthusiasm. Mr. Sourish with his sense of humour and words of encouragement and motivation at every stage brought out the best from each and every participant. The audience also played their part by answering questions which the contestants could not crack the earned chocolates for themselves.
Vivek . R. Joshi from PSBE bagged the first place and walked away with the Rolling trophy and certificate. Sneha Upadhyay from SPES bagged the second place and walked away with a trophy and certificates.
All the participants were given certificates of participation. Ms. Susan Roy Principal, thanked Mr. Sourish and congratulated the winners. On the whole it was a brilliant experience to the contestants as well as the audience.
