BE THE CHANGE

29th Annual Sports Meet

St. Paul’s English School held its 29th Annual Athletic Meet on 25th January 2017 at VET School grounds in J P Nagar 2nd Phase. Mrs. Bharathi.B.L, internationally renowned athletic and throw ball champion was the guest of honour for the sports meet.

The occasion was also graced by the presence of Mr.G.Thangadurai, Director Presidency group of Institutions, Ms.Bhuvaneswari, Principal Presidency School, Bangalore south and Director, Presidency school, Mangalore, Ms. Fathima, Principal, Presidency school, Nandini Layout and other dignitaries.

The theme of the meet ‘Be the Change’ was enchantingly represented in an array of well chosen graphed displays by students of Grade 1 to Grade 10.

“Woman power will harness the change” was the message. The display by grade 1 and 2 students depicting the life of an Indian soldier was a show stopper. Students in their smart uniforms of the Indian soldiers enthralled the audience and the chief guest.

The “all girls” marching contingents for all four houses was a feast.

The highlights of the day were the inaugural dance by girls of grade 8, 9 and 10 and the finale – March cum dance by the grade 8, 9 and 10 boys. Both these dances had the audience enchanted by their rhythms.

The chief guest Ms. Bharathi B L advised all the children to develop a balance between academics and sports – without neglecting one at the cost of the other. She pointed out the need to develop mental and physical stamina as she reminded parents to never ever lose hope in their children. Belief was the boost for a child’s confidence and parents needed to give it, to see their children bloom into wonderful citizens of tomorrow’s India, she pointed out.

The audience, school students and teachers were all fascinated and motivated by Ms. Bharathi B L’s story of her trials and tribulations. The success she achieved is sweet indeed but there are so many challenges and sacrifices that have led to it.

Amrutha George gave a stirring speech as she spoke about the theme ‘Be The Change’ as a student of the current generation.

The overall championship was bagged by theRuby House.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Ashwini.

The key persons behind the success of this athletic meet were none other than our beloved principal Ms. Susan Roy and Vice Principal Ms. Deepa Gopal whose constant support and guidance made the implementation of this event a resounding success and a game changer!
