INSPIRE- 2018

St Paul’s English school hosted its 30th annual Sports Meet on 14th December 2018. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr Prakash Nanjappa,- an ace shooter and an Arjuna awardee. The theme for this year’s Sports Day was ‘Inspire’. The show began with an inaugural display by 333 students of Kindergarten. Dressed in brilliant yellow costumes and depicting charming little chicks they conveyed the maxim that ‘Life is a gift, be inspired’.

Ms Mildred D‘Souza Head of Kindergarten welcomed the august gathering. This was followed by the Flag hoisting and parade inspection by the chief guest. One of the most awaited feature of the Sports Day Programme was the March Past and the Emerald House led by captains by Md. Zain and Neha Kamat and Vice–Captain Vishal and Meghana were declared winners for marching with precision and synchronization.

The Torch lighting ceremony went down well with the audience as the Torch bearers were budding athletics and champions both in National and State level sporting events. Vice Principal Ms. Deepa Gopal presented the school report which was followed by the prize distribution for Excellence in sports.

Through their colorful displays students from kindergarten to grade 11 roused in the audience the spirit of inspiration. The wonder chefs of Grade1 and 2 brewed up an exclusive dish for everyone seasoned and sprinkled with love and affection. Four hundred ambassadors of clean and green environment Grade 3 and 4 loudly proclaimed through their display“God gave us green, Now let us keep it clean”. Students of Grade 5 and 6 brought out their love for their school and showcased before the audience that a good life is the one inspired by love and guided by knowledge and success. The display by students of grade 7 and 8 reflected upon the dictum’ Inspire me and lead me to the path of freedom. The grand finale was a mind blowing performance by Grade 9, 10 and 11 students whose portrayal of “Malala” embellished the maxim “I want to inspire people, I want someone to look at me and say – because of you I didn’t give up.”

Another highlight of the days event was the melodious rendition of foottapping songs by the St Paul’s choir. These songs were indeed a musical treat for all those who had gathered to witness the Sports Day. The chief guest Mr Prakash Nanjappa was all praises for the manner in which the school encouraged academics as well as sports. He shared many personal experiences as well as information that he was all set to open a shooting academy in Karnataka soon. He advised parents to encourage their wards to participate in sporting events for their achievements would be a matter of pride for the parents, institution and the nation.

The event culminated with the Prize Distribution for the winners of various sports events for the students of Grade 1 to 12. The vote of thanks was given by Principal Ms Susan Roy who whole heartedly thanked the entire team of St Paul’s students, staff and the housekeeping staff and their dedicated effort in making the Sports day a grand success.

The 30th Annual Sports Day drove home the message that ‘When you are living the best version of yourself, you inspire others to live the best version of themselves’.
