Pottery Day – Kindergarten

Go Back

Pottery is one of the oldest and most widespread of the decorative arts, consisting of objects made of clay and hardened with heat. The objects made are commonly useful ones, such as vessels, plates, bowls, diyas etc. Pottery gives toddlers a sense of accomplishment and independence. They learn to create something from scratch and see the fruits of their labour. This builds self-confidence and teaches them that they can do things independently.

A potter was invited on Pottery Day and Little kindergarteners assembled in the assembly area, where they were enthralled by the way the potter made cute little earthen wares.  The potter in detail showed the little tots of how earthen wares are made and gave hands on experience to the tots making diyas, urns, plates, cups, etc. Clay is like a magnet for little tots. They enjoyed getting their hands dirty and experienced the texture of the material and made beautiful earthen wares. Tiny tots enjoyed the feel of squishy clay while making beautiful pieces of earthen wares.

Pottery Day event was just not squishy clay play for tots but a fun learning experience of making articles out of clay, the moments  which the little ones would treasure forever.
